Playing like a child

Ok I said I wouldn't do these until I got back from India but I am just not able to get going on my class doll and I couldn't sit around tweedling my thumbs! So I just made these and thought the Easter egg would be good for this time of the year. That yellow blob of paperclay is supposed to be the egg yolk LOL but it doesn't look like it and Idon't like her face either I wanted something simple and charming but I can't get out of the habit of fiddling around with the face and eventually spoiling it. Judi's foldy was another accident I didn't intend her to come out this way oh well just not good at this thing. A little child would do better than this I think!

Need to get my muse back!

Looks like my muse has gone walkies. Nothing seems to be coming right with the doll I am supposed to teach when I go to India next week! So I thought I will go and do something else not that I am good at it, but I went back to foldys ADT again. I was browsing through an airline advert and looking into their very old adverts which they did when they started out and came across a picture which I thought would be great for this doll. So this is what I made. I was going to use one of the tiny moulds for the face but managed to do one of my own which turned out ok. Not sure if this will woo my muse back though.

Is it me?

Is it me or is it my weird sense of imagination I don't know. Today as I looked out of the window I saw this and thought oh that looks like a figure a bit of a rude figure too LOL! I know I have seen that tree many a times before and just like that but it never struck me that it looks almost like a human figure .
PS. Just showed it to my DH and he laughed and asked me if that inspired me to make a doll ha... ha...

Its winter again!!

Looks like winter has come back suddenly. It has been very cold since yesterday and today we have been having lot of snow showers and bitterly cold winds blowing. While I was out in the town today I passed some scafolding and was thinking to myself heaven help someone if that comes down in this wind. Guess what, some scafolding came down in my husband's office just as he was parking and fell on the car! Thank goodness it just missed him and fell on the back end of the car and he escaped.

2nd ATD

This is my second ATD though I must say I do like the first one better. This is an India village woman carrying water on her head. I am not too keen on her face especially her lips I don't like it. She has Angelina Joli kind of lips. But then I don't know how to sculpt. For embellishing I used yarn and stick on embellishments. For her cloths I used fabric bits. She took best part of last 2 days to make. I have been trying to multi task but I am coming to the conclusion that multi tasking by me won't work. I have too many projects sitting around half done. I have got to finish a doll that I am hoping to teach in India when I go next month and I have to get my skates on that one. Even though it is going to be a simple doll I need to get a sample done quick or I won't get it done. So for now my ATD's will have to go to the back burner and of course most of all I do love to make my dolls they are my first love so I can't stay away from them for long.

Foldy

I don't know what makes me do this even though I am not good with paper. But I was tempted to try Judi's foldy paper doll. I went a bit mad with her and as you can see she is a bit weird LOL. I don't know what I was doing. I even forgot to put her wings on so I had to stick them on. Then I found that they were stuck the wrong way round ooops I don't know if I should show this to you LOL! If you click on her you should be able to see the writing on her.
My excuse is that I got to try the Twinkle H2Os.
In the daylight I found the colours looked pretty ordinary and pastel. But under artificial light if you took it close to e.g. a lamp the colours pop! There is a lovely shimmer to them. I wish thy would do the same under ordinary light.

Beautiful sky

This morning at 6 O'clock the sky looked so beautiful I just had to take this picture even though the view is not great from my house. Looks like it is going to be another beautiful day.

Nine done 3 to go

I made these danglies for a swap organised by Sherry. We are supposed to make 12 danglies to go on a bracelet and then we will swap with each other. I started off today and got 9 of them made even though they are due only in June. I had a great time making them. I made them out of Apoxy sculpt. My favourite one out of these is the little butternut.

Sweethearts

This is my version of ATD (Artists Trading Doll) that I made from Sherry's pattern. I have named it Sweethearts. I hope the left one looks suitably like a boy lol!

Cookbook RR

Will this pass? As you know, me and paper craft are two things very much apart LOL!
I would like to thank you all for your kind comments. Sheila thank you so much for your tips. Kai pressing plants and flowers in between fabric is not my idea and yes I wish you had said something then I perhaps would have thought of it. I am so shortsighted sometimes. Well one learns by ones mistakes. I was just trying out the technique which is explained in Embroiders Guild.

I could have cried

This is how I started off and I was mighty pleased with it and now
look at this! I could have cried! I sandwiched leaves and petals inbetween sheer fabric and body fabric. Well I should have used sheer fabric but I thought I would use net to get the colours of the petals and leaves through better. It does come out so much nicer but I forgot that leaves and petals crumble after they dry. So as you can see some of it came off once I turned the body. The thicker leaves and the rose petals held together well but the thiner ones crumbled. Now I have smeared all of it with glitter spray and I am hoping this will bind it and also it drys clear as well as it gives a shimmer. I really did not want to discard the body. I might have to touch the gaps up with more gold paint. She is going to be a big doll and her whole body is made with silk fabric.
PS: I don't know if this is goodnews or not but they are not rats but mice. Well whatever they are I don't want them in the house.

Tried this today

Today I just thought what sandwiching flower petals and leaves will look like on fabric. I quite like the effect. I should have used a different background then the petals would have shown up.
This piece however might come in handy with ATCs. I shall try something else. First I need to make a doll soon to try these things on it. I am having no success with my current doll that I am trying to design (sigh). I will just have to use my other pattern. I must make a big doll to try out what I have in mind. Keep tuned.

Rats!!!!

You won't believe it today when I opened the door and walked into my kitchen from outside I was stunned for a moment to see a rat sitting on the floor of the kitchen.!!! It looked at me and I looked at it and then wild thoughts chased through my mind of screaming and running out or throwing my shoe at it but then dismissed it as being highly impractical. It just looked at me calmly as though saying well who are you? So I thought I had better get it out, but how? I didn't want it to run further into the house so slowly I tried shooing it away from the door leading to the sitting room. It sort of hopped away a bit and stopped, so I crept behind it leaving the outside door open and stamped my feet to make it move but it hopped a bit and stopped. Then it started hopping back towards me so I frantically waved the serviette at it and it turned and hopped away into a corner. It did this several times and by now I realised that it was practically blind and when it saw my feet moving it sort of tried to adopt it. Fortunately I am not that terrified of rats or spiders as long as they keep their distance so I didn't move but kept waving the serviette at it. Finally it got the message and hopped out of the door. Whew! Next thing ran to the telephone got on to the Council pest control dept asking them to come over and do whatever they had to do. I was told then that the company that deals with it would call me back. Well I waited and waited eventually they called me and said they will come on Tuesday. Tuesday!!!??? I want them here now!!!! Oh I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight. I know everytime I go into the kitchen I will be first poking my head through the doorway to make sure that the rat is not there! I don't know how it got in, but I guess it could have come through the floor boards. The house is an old house so I should not be surprised that something of this nature can come to reside occasionally but it is a bit of a shock when you don't expect it.
