P.S.

Oh my look Isabelle also sent me seperately these two pins!. They are gorgeous. Thank you Isabelle I love them.

Made my day!!

Today I received this lovely book from Isabelle . I am so delighted with it and want to learn carding at once to do all the wonderful projects in this book. Isabelle thank you so much for thinking of me. As I said to Isabelle that she has too much faith on my French but I am sure she will help me with translation if I get stuck. It is also an additional incentive to better my French so that I can understand the instructions. Thank you once again Isabelle for this inspiring book.
On Saturday I went to see Mary Poppins. http://www.marypoppinsthemusical.co.uk/As always I am never disappointed with these musicals. They are so well staged and performed. I had a wonderful time. If you ever get a chance don't miss it. It is well worth the money.

Paper Doll Freebie

I drew this doll but never got round to making it. So thought that you all might want to make it
Enjoy!

Toad Stool Pixie done

This was the little Christmas decoration which inspired to make my pixie in cloth. So here he is. I am going to call him Beau as inspite of being rather a tattered toadstool pixie he is still the beau amongst the toadstool pixies.
This is the infamous hat with which he was displeased when I tried to make him wear with paperclay.

Update on pixie

I just got my pixie to stand up. He is in a better mood now.Kai asked me how I made his wings. It is no trade secrete I think many dollmakers have used this method. Simple just cut 4 pieces of iron on interfacing to the desired shape. Sandwich the wire between 2 interfacing making sure that the sticky sides face each other and iron. The 2 interfacing stick together with the wire sandwiched inbetween so that it does not flop. Then paint and embellish to your hearts content. I used interfacing for sheer fabrics. I will post the pictures of the pixie tomorrow when I hope to finish him.

Wings done

Today I finished my pixie's wings. By tomorrow I hope I will be able to finish him completely as long as he behaves LOL! He is complaining that he is tired so he doesn't want to stand. I have to work something out for him

Arguments!!!!

I have been having arguments with my pixie whole of yesterday. He was so docile and calm earlier that he almost fooled me into a false sense of security! Yesterday when I tried to get him to wear a hat suddenly he decided to take an umbrage to it LOL! He just wouldn't have it. I pulled and I pushed and I shoved and slapped it on his head. I even wet his head so much that I almost ruined his face. Fortunately a light bulb flashed in my head and I quickly dried it with a hairdryer. Now you might think what a horrible woman making him wear something he didn't want. Well it was not anything horrible it was just paper clay. I tried to make a hat out of it for him. Because you see he is the tattered and faded Toadstool pixie and he needs a toadstool hat but it just wouldn't work for me in the end I admitted defeat and told him that his hat would go to someone who would appreciate it. So now this is what it looks like and I am not telling you whom that hat is going to. He still has got some paper clay on him which I think I can cover. He looks a bit deceased but he couldn't careless! Now he is telling me that he would like to try a hat made out of apoxy clay. Ummmh!!. He says if I don't get it right he will just have to ask Sherry how to make one for him as she does wonderful things with it and a hat should be a piece of cake for her LOL! Right now I will have to try and see if my hat is acceptable to him sigh!

More Progress

I worked on my pixie a bit more last night. I plumped his cheeks up a bit more by pushing and moving the stuffing to his cheeks after I did the sculpting as I decided I didn't need anymore extra stuffing. I am quite pleased so far. I probably won't be able to work on him today as I am out most of the day.

I think I got it!

I think I got my pixie's head almost the way I want. Once I paint him he will start looking respectable. I had to tweek the pattern only a little bit. Thank goodness! I want to make his cheeks look a bit more chubby perhaps I need to stuff that area a bit more but he will do.

Back to the drawing board

I have been trying to get my Pixie's head done and I thought I had cracked it (pardon the pun) but when I stitched it all up it looks horrible. So I am back to the drawing board. Oh to be a genius like Sherry!

Teapot Hats Done

I just remembered to take these pictures when I saw Judi's teapot hats. Well mine are not as snazzy as Judi's but they are done and will be on their way to Sherry next week.

Little Christmas ornament

I had a little bit of paper clay left over from my last class in my doll club. I didn't want to waste it so I made little faces from some commercial moulds. One of the tiny faces I used to make this Christmas ornament out of a pine cone. Today lots of elves have been busy at my home. I have let them have their fun today. Hope to get them all to behave tomorrow LOL!

Look what I found!!

Today I took a walk down to the town centre. It is a beautiful autumns day and so it was lovely just walking amongst the fallen leaves. I got myself something to eat and then I went to give some cloths for drycleaning. Near the drycleaners there is a charity shop and every time I pass by I think to myself I must visit this shop as it seems to have some interesting things. Today I decided to go in have a look around. I was actually thinking to myself if I could find a prop of some sort for a doll. Anyway I went to one of the shelves where they had some little chairs on display and immediately my eye was caught by this quaint little figure. I fell in love with her immediately. I thought she was seated on a chair but when I turned her around I found she was actually seated on a musical box I didn't think the box was working but when I turned the key it played Lara's Theme beautifully. So I immediately decided to buy her. I only paid 5 quid for her. The doll itself is I think made out of celluloid probably and perhaps was quite a popular souvernir sort of thing. I think the cloths have been replaced and I don't even know if originally she was supposed to be seated on that box. Perhaps there was another doll in her place who knows. There might have been a similar doll in place with original lace etc. but this is redone by someone. Anyway I love her I think she is very sweet. She is a bit dirty. Her eyes open and close and she has blue eyes. But most of all what I like is her hands they look so graceful as she makes her lace. And the music is delightful.
