I don't know why but for some reason this reminds me of the fantasy film Nightmare before Christmas LOL! But don't worry she will turn into a I think fairy. That is what she is telling me at the moment.
Sharing a little of my life and how my imagination takes shape into art dolls.
We are trying to revamp the pond area and one of the things we were going to do was to remove the above little pebble pond and put the fountain shown below. But I decided that we would keep that little pond as it is home for a little froggie who keeps popping his head out when I come near it LOL! I too rather like that pond. So I persuaded J to put the new fountain close to it.
We had removed the old pond and put a rock garden in its place last year well some of it survived and it is not beginning to get established slowly although need to do more work there and put more big rocks in. Due to the hot weather and water control we lost some of the plants and had to plant them again.
You know when I go to the town I can't resist coming back empty handed. So this is what I found for half price so I got it. Don't ask me what I will use it for. It is actually to burn tea lights but I know I won't do that. Mmmm perhaps a doll.....
Ok I will shut up now. I will be away next week and this weekend being the Bank Holiday weekend in UK I wish all of you a lovely weekend who are going away or not going away have a great holiday. I am told that the temperatures are going to drop drastically to 12 degrees from the 20s we have been having. Goodness that is going to be a shock to the system.
After a long time I used Doe suede to make some of the parts because the doll is a slim small sized doll. So the head was going to be small hence I decided to use the synthetic fabric which I don't normally like using. Anyway the first head came out too small.
The second one I thought was ok but when I stitched it on the doll eeeks!! where has the chin gone? So off came the head and back to the drawing board.
Some doll artists I know like to have the fuzzy side of the fabric out but not me as I hate painting the fuzzy side. This is another thing I don't like about this fabric is I keep making the mistake of stitching the fuzzy side out. So even though the head looked ok I didn't want to use it because I had stitched it fuzzy side out hummmm... So out it went in the bin.
Final head at last and completed doll.
I am still not completely satisfied with her but she will have to do as she is going away soon to surprise someone. She is about 12 inches but a very slim doll. So I made her so that she can be hung instead of sitting or standing. Now I have to get on with my other projects which need urgent attention. Then I will be away for a week in Florence and Rome. Can't wait to get away. But I think I am going to be very disappointed as we are not able to get any tickets for Galleria Uffizi. Oh I so want to see that so much sigh. Going to Florence and not being able to see it will be aweful.
This is fabric pleated and crushed.
This one is fabric manipulated, heat treated, crushed and dyed.
If you all remember I had a little puzzle for you to solve in my post On My Way Back.
