Weekend fun

Last weekend I had a friend visit us and she wanted to learn a bit of felting. So I showed her how to do wet felting.
I think most of you know how to do this. It is very simple. You lay wool fibres on top of each other in layers. Each layer is laid right angles to each other. Then the layers are rubbed together with hot soapy water. This is a very simplistic explanation but if any of you are interested there are plenty of tutorials on the web how to do this

It was fun and relaxing to do and this is what we shaped it into with a glass. One can shape it into all sorts of things but a glass is all I had so we just did this shape.

I am also taking an online class with Angela Jereski http://aforartistic.com
I haven't got very far with it yet because I have to wait for all the supplies that I had to order. It's a pity that in UK we do not have craft shops that sell all these materials under one roof. So ordering from various sources takes so long.

Finished my long ago project

So here she is. She turned out ok but if I were to make her again I certainly wouldn't pose her this way. I really don't know why I made her to pose this way because I don't  like this pose but can't do anything about it as I decoupaged her body so can't move the arm. As for her name well my mind is drawing a blank :-) any suggestions?

PS actually I have finally given her name Spring because she was completed just when spring is starting here as well as she is all dressed in green. Hopefully spring time will be more productive for me this year

Finishing long ago project

This was a long ago project that was started in Sherry Goshan's group but I fell by the way side and did not complete it.  A few days back I came across it while I was searching for something. It feels like story of my life that I find things that I have long forgotten about which come to light when I am searching for something entirely different :-)  I have decided that it is about time that I completed it. The doll body is a pattern by Sherry Goshan's and the head pattern is by Marie Anne of Dollmakers Journey.

I have been searching for the right fabric for her skirt and this is what I think will look good on her
I just realised that many of my dolls are dressed in green and red combination! I tried other colours for this one but green is what she will have to have since I had already half dressed her and then abandoned her:-)

My canvas is done

I finished my canvas. The skirt and her body parts are made of silk ribbon. Her top is made out of felt and her umbrella is made out of paperclay. Her hair out of silk floss. Background is painted with acrylic colours.
