To make it or not to make it.....

Today I just couldn't stand it any longer not doing any doll thing, so I rummaged around and found the body pieces and the head that I had sewn together some months ago. Looking at them again after a long time, I am wondering what on earth made me think that they were all in proportion. First of all I started with a complicated body pattern which now looks like an over stuffed sack. I don't like the head which is the only thing I can show you at the moment. I dare not show you the body as you all might think that I was going nuts sewing a body like that lol! Then I made one arm in two halves (don't ask me why I did that) I could have just done it in one whole piece. The only redeeming factor might be the legs which look like they are quite nicely shaped. I don't have enough of the same coloured fabric so I have the challenge of putting it all together by tweeking things here and there. But for now I will have to let her rest in peace still a little while then decide if I will make her up.

  1. I can't see in the photo the problems with this face that you wrote about. But I can empathize with you on spending time on something that you then are unhappy with- darn it! LOL! But I know you will fix it ;)

Maybe you could paint this doll with a wash of acrylic paint or dye it? Then you wouldn't have to worry about matching the fabrics?

  2. Woo Hoo, Shashi Dollmaker is back. I am over-the-moon happy to see you creating again. Give yourself some time and you'll fall into the rhythm of it -- If there is one thing I have learned is that if you keep doing stuff, eventually what looks like a mess will turn into something and I KNOW what you can do!

  6. Good to see you back Shashi. Can't wait to see the doll in progress. It sure is tough to get back to a doll you started some time ago. It always falls back into place. With your talents you should have not trouble at all.
