Getting back

Just letting you all know that I am back from India. I wouldn't say it was a pleasure trip as I was dealing with mum being not well. Still haven't found the cause so it is like having a weight still sitting on top.

While all that was going on I had to take my mind off things so I started to learn some crochet. Not that you would  want to see my these little attempts but I am showing them for what they are worth. They are not great and for most of the time I don't know what I am doing lol! Still I seem to be slowly getting the hang of things. I still don't know how to go about choosing yarn for any particular project. I am completely lost when they specify certain size because when you go to the yarn shop there are hundreds of kinds and I am never sure what would be the right yarn to buy. So I come back empty handed. I have never found to have a great desire to learn crochet before but I can see one can get hooked on it ( forgive the pun).  May be just may be I will be able to do a project at some point.

  1. Welcome home Shashi - you have been missed.
Your crochet sampler looks great by the way. Not at all like the mass of knots I created before I got the hang of it when I was learning, LOL.

  2. Welcome Back Shashi!
So sorry to hear your mom is ill. Hope she gets better soon. Sending healing thoughts her way.
Well your crochet stitches look better than mine. :) The few stitches I know, I haved learned on my own. Why didn't I pay more attention to my mom when she wanted to teach me? She did beautiful crocheted things.

  4. That looks like good practice pieces to me. I made a feeble effort to learn years ago, but just didn't have the patience back then.
So glad you're home safely, and hope your mother's condition gets resolved soon.

  5. Sashi,

Thank you so much for your comment on my blog re my new Kindred doll.

I feel for you regarding your mom. I'm going through a similar thing with my Dad who lives a five hour flight from me. Being so far apart from family is difficult.

    All the best to you!

  7. Sorry to hear about your Mum. I know very well about this weight that you are carrying, especially since you are so far away.
My parents are 96 and 87 and have bouts of ill health.
I am only 30 minutes away from them...we used to be seven hours away and moved closer to be able to help them.

  8. I sure hope they find out what's up with your mom. It must be hard not knowing. Does she live alone or ...Realized I don't know if you have siblings.

I use to crochet about 35 years ago..I crocheted one afghan but never finished it off. But I did enjoy it and it was addictive, hard to put down.

    Glad you're back...
