Last night I did a quick sketch of a photo I took in Goa. I was actually testing my new Aqua promarkers. They are nice to work with for small sketches but I think I need to use a much more smoother water colour paper as with this paper the colours were not blending that well. Here is the picture that I took.
This my sketch. Not an exact replica I am afriad but since it was a quick sketch I guess it is ok. Left out quite a few details but it was late at night and I was getting tired and sleepy.
Today I received my Alice book that I had ordered. I had one when I was a kid but my mum gave it away when I got married. I was quite gutted when I heard that she had given away all my books. Oh well that is life. I ordered a used copy and I am happy with it. It has coloured illustrations and most important of all the sketches are from John Tenniel's illustrations which I love.
Glad you got your book again! I have my original book from when I was a kid -the pages are all yellowed. I'm not sure if it has much in the way of illustrations though, now I'll have to go look!
ReplyDeleteThe sketch came out great - you don't give yourself enough credit!
its a great sketch, very rustic looking
ReplyDeleteits always nice to get a book that you liked when you were a kid, there is one about a lop eared rabbit i keep meaning to order that i had when i as younger.
Loove your sketch Shashi!! I love Alice in Wonderland!
ReplyDeletehugs Karen
I think your sketch turned out well.It will be a great reminder of Goa
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at it Shashi. I would love to go back to Goa for a visit one day.
ReplyDeleteI love your sketch! And I think you're right about the paper. Somehow the texture of the paper distracts from the subject.
ReplyDeleteI understand completely about your Alice book! I did the very same thing a couple of years ago. I had a wonderful paperback Shirley Temple story and picture book when I was very young and it of course disappeared through the years. I ran across an old copy on eBay and snapped it up right away! I must have read through that book a hundred times when I was a child, and I still love it!
Totally understand why you wanted to sketch this Shashi!
ReplyDeletethe result is really nice ( I suck with water colours.)
Hope you are well my dear Shashi.
