Class with Arley Berryhill

This my mermaid that I made in Arley's Class. I usually make much smaller dolls so believe it or not I just could not get this doll's hands right as they were twice bigger than what I make. The doll may not have turned out great but I sure did have lots of fun in Arley's class. He is a wonderful and generous teacher giving us lots of tips and showing us tricks  as he goes along.  Thank you for the wonderful class Arley I had a great time learning from you.

I have yet to complete her embellishments,  which I don't know when I will do. Hope she doesn't turn out to be another DIP like so many of my other class dolls have been lol!

  2. What a fabulous doll! I see something new every time I look at her - the detail is incredible, and your choice of colors is so dreamy. Arley is on my list of "dream teachers". I really really hope I can take a class with him some day.

  3. She turned out beautifully Shashi! Her face looks just like your style too. Yes, I found that Arley's hand pattern is a bit big. I discovered that if you really squish the hand, cupping the palm rather than leaving it flat, helps to make it look smaller. I kept mine flat until after it was dyed and the arms sewn on the torso.

  8. Hi Shashi, Your mermaid looks great. The embellishments will come. I'm at the same stage with mine. Just hit a wall for some reason and never finished her, but I will and you will to. Maybe wrap some faux seaweed around her hands if you don't like them...;o~ Romona

The mermaid looks jolly good to me,I'd be pleased if I had made it.
I've spent most of today trying hard to make a doll that is very different from my others.I so wish there were workshops I could go to inFrance.
