I have been trying to finish my Santa for the past 2 years. Finally the overcoat is almost done after much wrestling with the fabric.😄 Gosh that velvet is not easy to work with. The coat came out ok except that the back piece has become a wee bit longer. Have to put my thinking cap and see how to disguise it. I could easily use some white furry trim to cover it but I really don’t want to use white that is my problem. I would like to use brown furry fabric or trim but I don’t have that and I really don’t want to buy anything but use what I have in my stash. If nothing works then I look forward to shopping 😀😀
I would wear that, it's gorgeous! I might not wear it if you add the white furry trim but Father Christmas would probably love it. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara, i think I have found a solution now have to see if it wrks
DeleteVelvet is horrible stuff to work with unless you have a walking foot attachment for your sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteHmm I don’t have that foot. I did back it with a sheer interface but trying to give lining was was difficult it kept slipping away and my biggest mistake was ti try and line it with silk😕
Deletei think it's perfect. If it was me I would just consider it the "style" I purposely designed. Beautiful really!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandy 😄. Yes I guess all Santas cannot be perfect
Deletetake a knife to it and trim the extra?
ReplyDeleteNo Jen that will not work as it will simply make the fabric bulky at the bottom when I hem it.
