After my back surgery I had some time. So decided to join in the ArtSummit organised by Adele and Leslie . It was a virtual conference with lots going on for 3 days. I took a class with Colleen Who taught us her Dear Deer doll in paperclay.
Paperclay I find is not easy to work with especially when the doll is only 10 inch tall. Anyway this is how far I have got to after a few mishaps along the way. Now that I am nearing the clothing bit I had a fabric in mind which I had bought when I went to India last. I have spent the whole morning morning trying to find this fabric and I have not been able to find it. The elves have well and truly hid this.😄. Does this happen to you too?
Hope you are healing well from back surgery. Never heard of paper clay but I imagine it's going to be a cute doll when u are done.
ReplyDeleteSandy paper clay is similar to paper mache. Paperclay is very fine textured clay unlike papermache.
Deletethought to check here - ...paperclay more fine textured. Good to know. I was actually this past year thinking of trying paper mache. i have this tiger head someone did and I remember I think it was about 2008 or so - i bought it at a thrift store and it's still wonderful!
DeleteI hope you are recovering well from surgery, Shashi. My Dad and my ex-husband had back surgery many years ago and I do recall it took around 4 months for them to recover.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the doll is off to a great start. :)
Thank you Sarena. I have almost recovered. Since I did pilates up until the surgery it has really helped me get back to moving about etc quickly. They said I didn’t need any physio therapy as I was doing very well unlike many other patients. I only have to be careful that I don’t lift heavy things or bend too much.
Deletewow, good for you - the pilates must have really helped.
DeleteYes it has Sandy.
