Arguments!
I didn't realise I was going to have so many arguments with the waist coat that he is wearing! I am no designer so when I made the pattern I completely forgot to leave seam allowances LOL! Found out when I was stitching it half way through. So now what do I do with the fabric that I cut and stitched without the seam allowances. I don't want to waste it as it is Dupioni . It is an odd shaped piece as you can see. Any ideas? I redid the waistcoat which sort of fits and I need to do some embellishing to hide the mistakes LOL!

Oh my dear Shashi, I wish I could help you!! but I cant sew at all!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway this lad is a charming one!!!! and you sure will make a perfect outfit for him!
Love,
Flo... waiting for you to cook, just for you (and Dénia)special 'gambas a la plancha' !!
LOVE,
I forgot: Great new banner!!!
ReplyDeleteYou sure work fast Shashi. I like the new vest but I would not know what to do with the fabric that is already cut out. Make a younger brother for him perhaps? (giggle)
ReplyDeleteA hat! Turn it into a hat somehow. It's going to be fun to see what you end up doing with it!
ReplyDeleteI second the idea of turning it into a hat somehow. It doesn't have to be the full-head hat either. It could be one of those 50s numbers that sits on a lady's head with lots of little feathers, etc. But in the meantime I'd just store it in your scrap fabric pile for inspiration later on. :-)
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, I am SO not the one to suggest how to use any leftover fabric because I'm lucky if I can get a doll outfitted sans GLUE! LOL! But your darling doll is coming along so beautifully (as I knew it WOULD!) and I'd let the FABRIC tell you how to use it. Didn't you have a third piece - a print - that you were planning to use as well? Maybe some of the Dupioni could be used in conjunction with that. I don't know for certain if you are making a male or female because I read 'he' AND 'she' in comments. If it IS a she, the skirt could be alternate strips of the print and remaining Dupioni. Or, as others said, a hat! WHATEVER YOU DECIDE WILL BE EXACTLY RIGHT! You have a great eye for colors, fabric, and detail!
ReplyDeleteHi Sashi... looks like he is coming along nicely... I am assuming this is going to be your elf/gnome so maybe you could use the remaining fabric to make some pixie boots. Or maybe you could make some really pretty flowers to put on another dolls costume... because it is such a gorgeous colour. Whatever you decide I can't wait to see your finished doll :)
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest to somehow use it for a hat and I see I'm not the only one, so that makes a vote of three for a hat, LOL
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm, a hat is a wonderful idea, or cuffs for his sleeves...pixie boots would be cute, too, I know you'll find the perfect solution! He's going to be great!!!!
ReplyDeletehello Shashi ....i'm sorry !
