Weekend in Spain

I was away in Spain for the weekend and I had a lovely time. The weather was hot infact I found it a bit too hot. I seemed to have lost the ability to tolerate heat after living in England for so long. Anyway I have some photos to share. This is birds eye view of cloud formation from the aircraft. I am always struck by the beauty of cloud formations from up above. They are so dramatic.
Birds eye view of land below.
We stayed in a small and very quiet village in Alicante. This is the street at night. Notice there is no traffic at all. It was a Sunday but there was a fiesta taking place on the next street where families were have a nice time but still no traffic. People just walked to the fiesta as I imagine they all lived close by. It was lovely to see that even this day and age there is a community spirit where people get together and there were kids of all ages playing and the parents sitting and just chatting and having a meal together.
This was the only historical building in the village. It is supposed to be some sort of palace but unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to go inside.
I saw these succulents and the shoe flower while walking in another town aren't they lovely.
We had to take a trip to the beach even though it was extremely hot. I always wonder how people can actually lie down face up towards the sun when it is so very very hot. Even I who is from a hot country and I am dark, cannot tolerate such intense sun light, my skin simply burns inspite of putting sun blocks. Surely it must be worse for people with light skin and they must be putting themselves in danger of skin cancer just for a little bit of tan. Well that is what I think anyway.
There were lots of sand castles on the beach which were made I guess by this man and who was looking after them constantly spraying them with water. They were all lovely.
Foot steps in the sand. Isn't the sky and the sea a beautiful colour. I love that blue.
These pictures of the sunset were taken while travelling to the airport. The pictures actually are no where near as beautiful as it actually was. I took several of them but none of them seem very satisfactory to me. I shall show you just these 2 which I think were the best of the lot.

  1. Wonderfull pictures, I especially love the clouds

  2. Sounds like u had a lovely weekend. Thanks for sharing the photos - I love to travel with you this way!

  4. Oh my... I don't "do" hot either, so I am a little glad I wasn't there, but oh my! how beautiful it is! Now I want to build a sandcastle too, LOL.

  5. Oh how lucky you are! I would love to go to spain one day. I am use to hot with Australia's climate so hopefully I will be fine.

Glad you had a good trip :)

  6. wonderful pictures! :D love seeing the clouds.

I don't understand why people sit for hours in the sun trying to get a tan and then wonder why their skin is horrible :/ a tan isn't worth messed up skin

I can't believe that sand castle o.0 its amazing

  7. Wonderful photos! First I thought that was snow until I zoomed and read :) Great!

  8. Oh Shashi, hope you had a lovely trip. I love Spain and Italy! Hope to go back soon. :)
The photos are great. Love the cloud formations, the flowers and the beach photos. Lovely!

  9. the clouds from above are amazing aren't they? look like an alien landscape or something..

  10. What a wonderful weekend! Love those cloud photos. I've always wanted to fly at night when there is a full moon.

That succulent plant is very interesting looking. I have one with similar color and that grows on clusters of stems like that one, but the leaves are longer.

Great photo of the sandcastles! To put all that time and work into something so temporary.

  11. So lucky to be to hop to Spain for the weekend! You took some wonderful photos. I know what you mean about not capturing pictures as beautiful as the scenes really are. I think it is hard to capture the glow of sunsets.
    hugs Karen

  12. I thoroughly enjoyed your wonderful photos and commentary, Shashi.

Australia has very harsh heat and sun which explains why we are number one in the world for skin cancers. I used to sun-bake (bake is definitely the correct word) in my youth and I have skin damage because of it. Back then, skin cancer wasn't talked about but, nowadays, we have constant advertising which warn people to stay out of the sun and to use sunscreen. So many still ignore the warnings. I'm not a huge fan of our dreaded summer heat so I'm with you on that.

I liked your sunset photos and, I agree, it's very hard to capture the mood in a photo. That's how I felt with photos I took of the Wyoming scenery. Sometimes, you just have to be there to benefit from the real beauty of the moment ~ :)

  13. OOOooo Sashi looks lovely I bet you had a great time .
Did you eat lots of tapas ?
    Love from sesga xx

  14. oh Shashi
I too love the cloud formation up high above and the sunset and beach views the same- looks like you had a great time- I realy envy you (well this time of year at least) being in the UK its so easy to travel OS and see the other countries so close by

    love n hugs bear xoxoxoxo

  15. How lucky you are to be able to make a weekend trip to Spain. I am with you about lying on the beach in the hot sun...I am very pale and stay away from the sun as much as I can...I use a lot of sun block.
Thank you for visiting my Tea Party...Solange had a lot of fun.

  16. Love all the photos , wow a weekend trip to Spain!! I no what you mean about the heat, I can't take it either and prefer the shade and better yet air conditioning!! Thanks for sharing your photos of the trip with us!!

  17. My gosh, what pretty photos!! Love the clouds.

  18. Quelle chance!!!
    J'adore l'Espagne!
    Bisous doux
