Dragging my muse

Today I dragged my muse screaming and kicking and started a sculpt. I have started it with paperclay and I really found it difficult to sculpt. Since it is my first full body sculpt I should really have done it with polymer clay which might have been easier to handle but what all the screaming and kicking going on I decided I had better start sculpting soon or my muse will escape yet again. So here is the begining of my sculpt. I think I will end up sand papering it a lot or it will just crack up, have to wait and see what happens. But I am determined that I will do this small figure somehow.

Early in the morning last week I caught this glorious sight of the sky.
and before I could adjust the camera a bit it turned like this!

  1. Shashi I'm so excited that you dragged her out to play!! You're off to a good start, one thing I'm finding with paperclay is that with sanding you can smooth shape and add detail so you dont have to worry if its not perfect yet, plus you can always add more paperclay to areas later. I like that you can work in stages, I hope you do too! I accidentally discovered that using a damp brush really helps smooth, shape and blend, (q-tips too)(had i not i probably wouldn't have continued with it! Cant wait to see your progress :) Those sky images are gorgeous!!

  3. Some day I'm going to have to try sculpting.. maybe a trip to our local Michael's is in order. Nah, I will look at others' creations and stick with pencil and paper. I would get way to obsessive with supplies if I did what you do.

  5. Love the photos of the sky, they have been wonderful here as well. I would like to try and paint some of them, but then there are so many things I would like to try.

  6. Way to go Shashi. I need to follow your excellent example and drag my muse back into the studio to play too...
Paperclay is very forgiving. I know what you can do and I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
