Today I got my doll's stockings ready. Since I did not have any suitable fabrics for the stockings I decided to make my own designed fabric for her. I bought some plain white knitted fabric and made up the design on it with Inktense pencils. I drew horizontal lines on the fabric with inktense pencils , lightly coloured the inbetween space between the lines and then spread it all with water and let it dry before sewing onto the doll. The design has lots of blemishes and is uneven colouring but I thought that was ok as it adds to the whimsical look. I wanted to try out these pencils and this was a perfect opportunity to try them out on cloth.
So here she is wearing her stockings and as you can see I went with the green
Perfect! They look amazing and I love the colour.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara. Hope the whole costume will come together without a hitch :-)
DeleteLove, love this idea and effect! I'd like stockings like that :) Inktense is brilliant, isn't it. Fab colour too. Fantastic Shashi!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jules and thank you for pointing me to the sale of these pencils. I probably would not have bought them had they not been on sale.

Deletelovely stockings... my friend that sews things with me..well, she sews..I usually do other stuff..hahahha... wants to make a Caroline doll some day soon.... with stripey stockings.... this could work .... cuz where will I find black and white stripes the right size no matter what size we make our dolls?
ReplyDeleteYes it is difficult to get the right fabric and the right size strips. So if you want only a little amount of fabric then this works fine
