End of Term

My water colour classes for this term came to an end today. I really enjoyed painting the human figure. Next term we will be stomping around all over London doing some urban landscapes. I am looking forward to that but I do hope that the weather will be kind to us in April when my classes start again.

So this is what I did today. I like the first painting better than the second one. With the second one I think I started rather low on the paper and ended up squashing the bottom half a bit. But that particular pose was not an easy one to do. I must applaud the model here as she gave us some really beautiful poses to work with. This was an earlier painting where we had to do hands and feet and the same in skeleton form. Painting hands and feet in water colour is the hardest. That hand was corrected by my teacher and now it looks like a hand but when I did it ,you would't have recognised it lol! The feet came out ok because it was the model's but tried doing my own feet and I failed miserably.

Today's class

My arm feels like a lead today. We have been painting like mad in the class. We must have done more than 10 paintings of different poses of the human form. Forgive me some of them are smuged as you see we were painting faster than the paints dried. We got only 3 minutes on each pose and we had to produce the painting. It was a marthon whew!! I am happy that at least they are recognisable as a human figure LOL!! I am not going to bore you with rest of the pictures!

Back to school

LOL! Not quite but I did start my water colour painting classes today. We are doing the figure this term. We had a model pose for us nude. As I have never done something like this before I didn't know what to expect. But in the end it all turned out ok. I rather enjoyed the class. We had to work out the proportions and then paint the figure first in cool colours and then in warm colours. The first is in cool colours and the second is in warm colours. It is not great but ok for a first attempt I think.

Finishing my homework

I haven't got round to working on my doll today. I had to finish my homework. We were supposed to paint a row of houses. I couldn't think of anything so I looked at a photo I had taken somewhere in Cambridge and improvised. It didn't turn out the way it was supposed to (story of my life)LOL!! I think I overworked on the paint so the transparancy seems to have disappeared a bit. I have to wait and see what my teacher says. This the picture I improvised from.

Something fishy

Today our teacher brought in some fish (Sardines) for us to paint. I think I am slowly begining to get the hang of water colours. I don't think this is an exact replica of the fish but that was not her intention in giving us to paint a fish. She wanted us to use colours to blend. She also wants us to paint to a large scale hence the fish is big and everything else we will paint will be large. Now don't ask me what that orange blob is and what it is doing there, I won't even go into it LOL! I didn't find anyone moving away from me in the train so I guess I didn't smell of fish either LOL!

First watercolour assignment

I have just joined a class for water colouring. These are my first ever attempt at water colouring still life. We were given assignments to paint orange, grapes and figs. Now if the above look even remotely anything like the fruits I will be happy. Do they?
