Some bargains

I got these velvet ribbons and some cording in the sale. I didn't have these colours and the size is also perfect size for dolls so I am pleased with my buy. The fabric I got more than a metre as that was the last bit on the roll and they just gave it all for the half metre price since I had wanted only half metre.

I know what I am going to use those green ribbons for. I have an idea let's hope it will work. The magenta cording I bought for hopefully the future doll from the recent sketch.😀

First things first

I have to apologise for not visiting blogs lately. After Christmas and New Year things have got very hectic. Just when I thought things were settling down I had bad news yesterday that mum was admitted in hospital. She had a heart attack. It was a mild attack but because of her age we were very concerned. At one point I thought of taking the next flight to India but my brother asked me not to rush it but to wait for few more hours. Finally late last night they said that she was responding to treatment and was stable. This morning I got to speak to her and she sounds ok but weak. Many prayers have been going out for her and I am so grateful for them. 

The other day while having a cup of tea I was staring at the Christmas tree so my husband asked me what I was staring at. I said to him I think I see a doll at that spot and pointed the spot to him. He looked then looked at me as though I had gone a bit crazy and said I don't see anything. He said he could only see a couple of ornaments so I said that's it both together look like a doll. He said that I had a weird imagination as he still could not see a doll😀. So I quickly drew this on a sheet of paper and asked him if he now saw it? So he looked at the drawing and the ornaments and said oh yes now I see a figure😀. Then he said I still had a weird imagination 😂😂

So here is the very rough sketch that I drew. Maybe I will make a doll out of it after all.

Happy and Bliss

Let me first wish you all a very Happy New Year. Hope your year has started with wonderful things to look forward to.
Here is my new doll for the new year. She has two personalities one is Happy and the other is Bliss. She is designed to make any dollmaker happy and blissful while she is creating her dolls. Hope you will be able to view her here. Ok this is not working so I will just add the pictures . I was trying to post a video but it did not work so here she is. The doll with two personalities

Just popping in to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Like many of you I will be busy next few days. Enjoy your days with your family and friends or whatever you have got planned and see you all in the New Year

Back home

As some of you would know that I was away for a week in India and while I was there a huge cyclone made a landfall where I live. Since we live near the coast our area was hit very badly. But fortunately I was safe and so was our property but the telephone lines and the internet did not work.   One of the deep sea cable was affected. So I could not communicate easily. Now I am back I hope to get back into the swing of things. I redid my doll's face and almost finished her while I was away.
I have no pictures to show at present but will do so when I get a chance.  I had to get a small procedure done in my eyelid which is irritating and hindering me doing things but that should heal soon.
So to pass time while the storm was raging I sketched this purely to see how my new pearlescent water colours looked.. the sketch is not great but I hope you can see the rich colours of the pearlescent paints.

Struggling

I have this doll in the works and I am struggling with her. Sometimes you just can't get things right. So I have to redo the head. Hope I can finish her before Christmas 😀

That time of the year!

This year I have somehow managed to do things ahead of time. I have managed to bake my Christmas cake. ( sorry no picture) .

I have managed to decorate the living room and made it look festive so that my Santa's helper can get to work quickly😀. He has a long list to get through.

 

My Appleberry is busy picking his apples for his apple pies and crumbles and toffee apples😂

 

While the Christmas tree is merrily twinkling away in the room.

Tiny Santa sits amongst the dried nuts wondering whether they are edible or not😀

Couldn't resist

I just could not resist to buy these two items that were on sale. I especially love the water colours. They don't look that great in the box but when I wet the paint they come to life beautifully. The shimmer in them is really lovely and I can't wait to use them. But will I use them? I hope so as I don't want them to join my collected items pile😀.

New doll in progress

I am at the moment making a new doll. I was hoping to get the pattern out before Christmas but because I hit some snags that is not going to happen now.☹️ I am not making a complicated design as I like to think that even a beginner should be able to make it easily, but I need to get the sequence of putting it together right so that it will be easy for a beginner also. In the meantime I just made this little thing quickly as I pictured it in my mind😜. I find it funny how my mind jumps from one thing to another if something is not coming together immediately. Do you find that you digress from what you are doing sometimes if things don't go smoothly or according to plan?

My poor paper clay doll waits in the wings patiently for me to come back to her😀.

What a pain!

Google has discontinued the blogger app and I am feeling lost without it. It was so easy to post with it and it was free. Now they want us to buy an app. This one I am posting from is a trial one. Which I did not realise as it does not say that! I came to know because after a few minutes it keeps asking me to buy the app. I don't think I am going to do that until I am sure. I want to try some other apps too free ones to see if that would be enough for me. They are crafty the way they present these apps.
I have been away travelling a lot hence I have not been posting much as I have been feeling very tired and jet lagged. When I returned from my travels my garden had transform from green to several shades of gold orange and red. Felt like I had walked into a different world.
