Pumpkin girl finished

 I finally finished  my pumpkin girl. I can see a lot of flaws in her. But one has to learn to do it better. I do find hard to judge the baking time for polymer clay in my oven. Since its a small oven I feel it really does not get upto the right temperature because the stem on her head kept snapping off. Anyway finally all done. I think the colour could have been lighter and a bit more orange in it. Here she is, hope you like her.

Pumpkin girl

 I just started making a pumpkin doll. It was a free course offered by Curious Mondo. The teacher was Karen Baker. She is a wonderful artist and a teacher. Its is a polymer clay doll. I have only made a couple of polymer clay dolls so I am learning still. I was going to go for a conference in Windy City 2 years back and had enrolled to take a class with Karen Baker . Unfortunately the pandemic happened so everting got cancelled. If I ever get a chance to go again I will grab that chance. In the meantime here she is. i am in the process of making her cloths now. A lot to do still. But it is a fun doll so having fun with her.

My mother

 I have been away from blogging again. So many things have happened in the meantime and one of them has been , my mother passed away after being ill and going through a lot of suffering. I was with her for the last 3 weeks but had to come away and she passed away after I left. She is now without pain and suffering in the arms of our Lord. She was 97 years.

I will miss her terribly. There are many things that are flashing before my eyes. One of the things she was always concerned was if we had eaten our food. She would always ask us if we had eaten. Would we like to eat something. This was not just for family members but for anyone who came to our house. Food seemed to be her way of showing her love and concern and caring for all.

When i was a kid she would stand on the doorway and look out for me, when it was time for me to come home from school. When she saw me walking down the road in the horizon, she would disappear and i knew she had gone to prepare my tea and i would get some mice things to eat. 

I would like to share a poem which I found in pintrest. It pretty much sums up what I am trying to say. And I think all mothers do that for their kids.

The Watcher

Sometimes

Sometimes it is so nice to do things just like a child would . I have just been scribbling a bit and putting colour to it without giving it much thought . When you are not in a mood to create anything much this sort of thing just makes you relax and enjoy puting colours randomly.

Sleeves almost done

At last did some more work. Managed to do the sleeves. I forgot to bring my glue so decided to felt the sleeves to the doll . I hope they won’t come off. Sorry the pictures are not good. But this girl can’t stand without support at present hence not a great picture. 

 

Palm Squirrel

While I was sitting in the balcony I saw this little fellow appear suddenly. At first I thought it was a mouse . I had forgotten  how small the Indian squirrel is. After seeing a European squirrel these Indian palm squirrels look really tiny.  He looked so cute sitting there nibbling something he had found. One of my cats used to catch these little guys and bring them home. I remember when I was young, I used to always try and rescue them. My mum would say that I was wasting my time as they would not survive after being in my cat’s  mouth. But i still went ahead and tried to rescue them..😊 

 

Where ever the needle takes me

Still chugging along slowly. Beading wherever the needle takes me. It is all random. Still some beading to 

be done on the skirt then I will turn to the sleeves

 

Stalled again

 Inspite of my good intentions my project seems to have stalled again. Firstly we travelled to India after 2Years of being house bound. Felt so strange coming out of our comfort zone out into the world again. So far things have been ok travel wise. But in our personal lives we have had some bad set backs. I tried to keep going with creating hoping to keep my mind occupied but it is hard going but we keep plodding on. Our troubles are far less than what people are suffering in Ukrain.  

Whenever we travel i always carry my art and doll stuff with me. So to take my mind off I did a small sketch. It was a tutorial I saw some time ago i can’t remember who did it. I must try and find that website again. Since it was very simple i tried it but I forgot to bring my gold paint. I used yellow H2 O colour here but it does not show the shimmer in it. It looked much more effective with gold instead which the artist used.  So here it is something simple and easy. . At least something is better than nothing😄

I shall try and visit your blogs. I feel so bad for neglecting you all so sorry about that.

Skirt is done

 

I have finished with the beading on the skirt . I did random beading on it. I might add other things with felt but at present just want to finish the whole costume which doesn’t seem to be happening fast enough😄

After a lot of procrastination

 

After a lot of procrastination and dilly dallying I managed to felt these. Now I can start planning the costume for my doll that has been waiting in the wings for soooo long. I still have a little more felting to do but that will get done as the doll progresses. I wanted to do this felting after I took a course in A for artisic last year. I could not get the right colour of white. I would have preferred a very white prefelt but what I got was rather an off white  prefelt. Anyway I have added a bit of other tones and hopefully it will not matter too much.
