Photo a week 4

At last a doll is being completed. There she is lying amongst all the clutter and after a lot of arguments seems to have settled down. Lets hope she will be docile till I finish her lol! I made it to our local museum. Couldn't take pictures so I am showing just this bit which I could take. In the back ground you can see in the distance some pottery. They were huge big pots sitting on top of each other designed by an artist who went to China specially to get them made. There were many more in the gallary all around 8 ft tall.
It was quite a nice day the fish were swimming merrily
and so were these two birds. I took this from a wooden bridge and everytime a child went over it he stomped hard lol and the bridge shook so the photo is a bit blurred.

Photo a week 3

Today I decided to take a long walk and also visit our local arts museum which I am ashamed to say I have not done yet. I also took my camera along with me to see if I could get some pictures. Unfortunately the museum was closed and I couldn't get inspired enough to find anything interesting on the way. I came home and wandered into my garden. I came upon this nest. I think the birdie must have started nesting before we had our heavy rains. Poor dear has I think lost the nest it is all soggy now. I don't remember seeing that nest there before last year. There were signs of coming of spring everywhere......
This will open into a beautiful pink Camellia soon.
Another shrub full of buds
The sun was playing hide and seek when I managed to just about catch it. It was about 12.30 this afternoon but it looks as though it is in the evening.

Photo a week 2

Now that the snow has gone and I am back home and feeling better I thought I would start putting my doll together now that I had found a solution to do it. Got my DH to bring the machine up to his study since my craft room is still not ready. Dusted it and got it ready to load. Guess what..... I can't find the lead for the machine. Soooo I take a deep breath and relax. Perhaps I will muster up some energy soon to go down and search for the electric cable and the foot. Hope you all are having a lovely day.

Fun and easy tag

I was tagged by Chris to look in the 6th folder on my computer where I keep my pics and share the 6th photo in it with my blogging buddies and then tag some of you to do the same. I thought what fun lets see what I come up with.... knowing me I should have known that I would come up with rubbish. Well let me explain I am one of those people who goes through phases of collecting all sorts of things and sometimes I don't even know why I do it and collecting all sorts of birthday and other free gifs from the web was one of those phases I went through. I didn't think you would be interested in those gifs so I thought to myself well perhaps I will just go into my blog folder and select the 6th picture and I came up with this...... LOL! Ok so now I tag

Charcoal drawing

Yesterday we did a charcoal portrait. Again it was something very new for me. I found it messy but much easier to do. So I am a bit more pleased with this one however, it still doesn't look anything like the model lol!

Messy House

This is how my house has been looking for the past few months. But I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel finally. Hopefully I will be able to get my things in order in my craft room once it is redecorated. Until then I have to wait patiently.

First time..

My drawing skills are not great so I thought I needed to do something about it. Unfortunately all the beginners courses in the college were booked up by the time I decided that I will take a drawing course. So the only course that I could enroll myself in for the spring term was portrait drawing with charcoal. I really was thrown in in the deep end with this course. We had a live model and here I was, I didn't even know how to do measurements lol!. Everyone else were whizzing away with their portraits. On the first day I couldn't draw much. I spent my time learning to do measurements. This is what I got done on the second day. Now the portrait doesn't look anything close to the model lol! But at least I am beginning to understand the method of drawing a bit if nothing else. The model was difficult to do as she couldn't sit still. Poor lady must have been exhausted modeling the whole day that she kept nodding off or changing position. I found that drawing is very intensive when you have to do it by measurements when you are not used to doing it that way.

To make it or not to make it.....

Today I just couldn't stand it any longer not doing any doll thing, so I rummaged around and found the body pieces and the head that I had sewn together some months ago. Looking at them again after a long time, I am wondering what on earth made me think that they were all in proportion. First of all I started with a complicated body pattern which now looks like an over stuffed sack. I don't like the head which is the only thing I can show you at the moment. I dare not show you the body as you all might think that I was going nuts sewing a body like that lol! Then I made one arm in two halves (don't ask me why I did that) I could have just done it in one whole piece. The only redeeming factor might be the legs which look like they are quite nicely shaped. I don't have enough of the same coloured fabric so I have the challenge of putting it all together by tweeking things here and there. But for now I will have to let her rest in peace still a little while then decide if I will make her up.
