Quick sketch

Last night I did a quick sketch of a photo I took in Goa. I was actually testing my new Aqua promarkers. They are nice to work with for small sketches but I think I need to use a much more smoother water colour paper as with this paper the colours were not blending that well. Here is the picture that I took.

This my sketch. Not an exact replica I am afriad but since it was a quick sketch I guess it is ok. Left out quite a few details but it was late at night and I was getting tired and sleepy.

Today I received my Alice book that I had ordered. I had one when I was a kid but my mum gave it away when I got married. I was quite gutted when I heard that she had given away all my books. Oh well that is life. I ordered a used copy and I am happy with it. It has coloured illustrations and most important of all the sketches are from John Tenniel's illustrations which I love.

This and that

On the way to Spain. The Pyrennes. Don't they look awesome?
I have been working on a challenge doll but unfortunately she is just not turning out the way I wanted her to be. I am having to abandon the idea which I started out with first. I can only show you a tiny part of her at the moment. They rather look like frog's eggs I am afraid lol!

Whats on your work desk Wednesday 142

This is my work desk today. Actually it is my husband's which I borrow from time to time as mine is a pokey little place where I cannot work if I want to spread out and which I often do. Had to stop my doll half way to complete a little sketch and story that I have to send to someone. I had forgotton about it until a reminder was sent so I hurriedly did the sketch in pencil. Usually Choc approves of what I do but today as you can see he is turning his back to it all. He is certainly not approving my flitting from one project to the other. Now I will go and see what everyone else is up to . If you want to see where I am going just click here http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/  or click on the blog title it will take you to some wonderful blogs that are listed on Julie's blog.

P.S. I had removed the word verification as I do not like the present one at all. It is so difficult to read but the moment I turned the word verification off I started getting spam. So sorry everybody have had to turn it back on again.

WOYWW Wednesday

This is how my work surface is looking at the moment. I started cutting and sewing a pattern but had total loss of concentration I think. Twice I sewed the pieces wrong way round and it was not only the cold that was causing blueness all around me lol. So I left it to rest to come back to it later. Perhaps later today. It doesn't look like much but there is a doll in progress there.

Journal for me

The other day while I was doodling I suddenly thought of making a journal. I am no good at it so I thought I would just make it for myself. Do it as and when I please and not get stressed about it even if it is no good. So I thought of painting my dolls one by one. Not all the dolls but just the ones which have some significance or the other. So here is my first page with my first doll. I will remember it always and probably keep her always. She had got lost, so I thought and didn't see her for several years but I found her recently and I think to myself perhaps I need more than a pair of glasses to see lol! She was right there under my very nose all the time. I shall stick a piece of the fabric out of which I made her cloths. I may not be able to do it all the time but if I have it I shall stick it in the page.
So she started me on my dollmaking journey when I had just come out of a particularly stressful period in my life so she is very special to me also she makes me realise how far I have come.

Just doodling

I have been doodling a bit. I was trying to delete some photos of mine to make space for the others when I came across this one of shoe flowers so suddenly I felt like sketching it before deleting it.

This one is of a leaf, yes it is a leaf and it doesn't look like one but I got this picture from Sandy's blog. She kindly gave permission to sketch it if someone wanted to so I decided to have a go.
I think I better get to back to my sewing though lol!

Commenting..

Wow two posts in a day  that is amazing for me!! I was reading a post about why some people are not able to comment on some blogs. It has happened to me so if you want to know why you have not been able to comment on some blogs or some may not even know that people are not able to comment in their blog go here http://downourcountryroad.blogspot.com/2012/01/cant-leave-comment-not-getting-comments.html all will be revealed. Do let the person whose blog you cannot comment as well know.

Pixie shoes

It is again been long since I posted. I seem to be finishing my projects in my mind overtime but have nothing to show for all the work I do in my mind lol!.
Here is a pair of pixie shoes that I started ages ago but only finished it recently. They are from a free pattern given by Annette Emm in the Stitch magazine. I love the shoes she makes, Mine are nowhere  as nice as hers but I know these will keep my pixies happy enough to keep them out of trouble.(I hope). If they don't like them then I guess I will just have to give them away as my dolls are too tiny to wear shoes as big as these.

Boneyard Challenge

Feeding my creativity

This is my boneyard challenge doll which I made out of my boneyard body parts.Only her arms are from Barbara Willis pattern but the rest of the parts are from my own patterns.  I gave the title  "feeding my creativity" to this piece since I had to work a bit out of my box, a bit rustic, a bit exotic and a bit artsy. Everything on this doll is from left over and discarded pieces of fabric. Like many of my dollmaking friends I tend to collect things that I think I might need for my dolls. I got the jute fabric I used on her from a building site in India. They use jute fabrics to protect floorings when painting or doing other work in the house. I just asked for a tiny piece and I was given this whole big piece of jute which I had no clue how or what I would use it as. I almost threw it away when I was having a clearout. But luckily it fell out from a cupboard when I was searching for something else so I got this idea of using it on this doll. I painted the jute with glitter but unfortunately it does not show in the picture as it is very suttle and the effect is lovely. The little bird that I had made earlier came in handy for the theme. I named her Rushme as I really had to rush to make her and get her photographed and sent before I went away on my holiday. I was working on her till the last minute, thank goodness I was a bit ahead with my packing so I stayed up late and was able to get everything done just in time.
